Bay of Bones Boat Tour from Ohrid

The Bay of Bones is a reconstructed prehistoric village on the water. This is what the boat trip from Ohrid includes and how long you stay.

The Bay of Bones is a museum built over a prehistoric pile-dwelling settlement on Lake Ohrid. From the boat you see the reconstructed houses on stilts before you step onto the walkway. It is the stop people mean when they ask for the underwater museum, even though the houses you walk through sit above the water.

What the boat trip includes

The Bay of Bones tour is about three hours and 30 km, departing from in front of Hotel Tino. The cruise passes the old-city landmarks – Samuel’s Fortress, St. Sophia, Kaneo and Tito’s Villa – and then gives you about one hour at the Bay of Bones to walk the settlement. A guide, non-alcoholic drinks and Wi-Fi are included.

Bay of Bones or the full day to St. Naum

Choose this cruise when the museum is the point of the day and you still want to be back in Ohrid for a late lunch. Choose the full St. Naum day when you also want Trpejca, Zaum and the monastery. That day is six hours and includes the same one-hour museum stop, so you do not need both unless you are staying longer.

The houses are outdoors and the walkway is the visit. There is no separate indoor tour hiding behind them. If the weather turns, the captain decides whether the south shore is sensible that morning — the book the cruise holds the date, and we confirm it with you.
